VICTIMS OF AN ARROGANT WALL STREET MOGULGET EVEN IN TOWER HEIST
A rich executive, Arthur Shaw (played by Alan Alda), swindles the life savings of a few dozen employees of a high-class condo in New York, claiming that he could triple their pensions with his investment savvy while actually pocketing millions. Victim Josh Kovacs (played by Ben Stiller), accordingly, concocts a Robin Hood scheme to recover the fund, presumably in cash within a hidden safe in the condo. An amateur at such a heist, Kovacs calls upon petty thief Slide (played by Eddie Murphy) for expertise in pulling off the caper. The execution of the heist is hilarious. But Tower Heist, directed by Brett Ratner, is not the film to portray some serious payback on behalf of those with foreclosed homes while Wall Street raked in billions by betting against their loans’ viability.
