KILL ZONE 2 IS THE LATEST KUNG FU CAPER
The most important premise for yet another kung fu film is announced by the Hong Kong police chief early in Kill Zone 2, directed by Pou-Soi Cheang. He states that thousands of persons disappear without a trace each year. The reason appears to be a hunt for the internal organs of healthy persons who are captured, operated on, and then dumped into the South China Sea. The caper is about two persons who need transplants and how criminal gangs in Hong Kong do some of their harvesting in Thailand. Filmviewers who like kung fu will enjoy seeing Tony Jaa, who plays Chatchai, the father of an 8-year-old girl who needs a bone marrow transplant to reverse leukemia. The story is just fast paced enough to hold the interest of those who eschew choreographed fight scenes, but the statistic about disappearances is entirely fictional. MH
